clean the surface well. Scuff it up a bit with sand paper. Apply a primer for metal. Use a paint formulated for metal.
Did you clean your piece well and let dry thoroughly before painting? Skipping any step will cause the paint to wear off faster. Make sure you prime before you paint and then use a couple coats of a sealant formulated for the paint and item you are painting. Good luck! You can do this and it will look fab!
Use primer first
have you tried to seal it with a clear spray after the metallic is dry...try that
primer- paint- then clear coat
yes I can relate there are so many different options out there if in doubt when you got to purchase the paint ask someone what is the best option,,in general I have found paint store is very knowledgeable and can direct you to the one time coverage option...good luck you can do it!!!
