Ceramic tile floors are still in style and actually the best thing you can put on your kitchen floor .
are you doing this for your self or are you putting your house up for sale? If you are doing this for yourself...and you like them...install them. If you are doing this to sell your house....see what your realtor thinks....
I have ceramic tiles in my kitchen/hallway/bathroom. They look beautiful but are very dangerous. If wet, it's like walking on ice. I have fallen 3 times and visitors coming in with snow on their shoes or from rain, have slid and nearly fallen too.
Ceramic floors of some sort are always a classic. Just depends on your lifestyle and how often you clean and reseal the grout. There are many more options out there - take a look at lots of them and weigh the pros and cons of each before deciding.
