My hostas started showing roots above the soil. Is this okay?

I planted several new hostas in late spring, and some of them have started rising up out of the soil. They are all thriving, but is it normal for the roots to expose themselves? My wife wants to cover them - I said leave them alone. What should we do? The roots are showing new growth also.

Add some soil or mulch to protect the roots.
Separate the roots and plant more in different areas or share them with your family and neighbors. They'll love you!
Again, Janet and I are on the same wavelength. Those hosta roots need protection. Mulch or soil - your choice. And pat yourselves on the back for them having such vitality!
Cover them with soil, then mulch.
