spring or fall, sun or part sun. Good drainage, not too dry-- and plan on a few years before you have the "bush" look.
Hello Pat, I always use the old farmer's method: From Spring thru Fall, transplant and prune your plants in months that have the letter "R" in them. For example: you can transplant in April but not in May. May does not have the letter R in it. I have used this method for years and it has always worked well for me. Good luck.
End of growing season is best. My peony lived in the shade for at least 10yrs with nary a bloom. What could go wrong, says I, if I move it to the sunniest spot, right next to the road where it gets @6hrs of sun? Next growing season and it was glorious in bloom. Don't look back!
