mosquitos are hatched in water. Get rid of any standing water. There are mosquito treatments for yards in a granular form or as a dounut shape that floaters for rain barrels.
Hi Myrna, Here's a link that may help! http://time.com/4354955/repel-kill-mosquitoes-zika-virus/
Good luck!
Myrna, I know you don't want to use alot of pesticides in your yard (especially if you have pets or children ... or both... that use the yard in any way), so I m posting a link below that tells you how to make a mosquito trap to lure them away from the humans who would like to enjoy your yard. Just remember to set the traps AWAY from the area that will be used most often. I would definitely set out several traps to ensure that the mosquitos stay away, but if it rains you will have to make more and throw out the old ones, as they will be, lierally, watered down. I hope this helps you, and thanks for using Hometalk for a solution :) Have a great summer :)

OR if you are feeling a bit desperate this is an alternative:

Remove all standing water and plant items the mosquitos do not like. Basil and peppermint are good choices.

If you want to get rid of them while you are out there or entertaining, place oscillating or box fans around the area --- mosquitoes (and flies) can't fly in the air space and will not stick around. As for long term, plant mosquito-hating plants like marigolds.
