Any tips for lining up hinges on small peices of furniture?

I have problems fitting hinges in the right place, I put them on doors or flaps then try to place them on the supporting area but invariably end up with doors that don't close properly or with double doors which overlap. Also very difficult to fit the screws in tight spaces. Any help gratefully received.

The doors and frames need to be chiseled out to accommodate the thickness of the hinge. I usually attach to the frame first, after chiseling, then line my door up, mark it and chisel that out. It's a pain to hold the door up while attaching. Just prop it up with a piece of scrap lumber, get one screw in the top, then one in the bottom. The rest is gravy.

put a dab of toothpaste on the hinge and place it where you want to place it then drill your holes WALA you got it lined up. 😊

Attach the hinges to the frame first. Then line up the doors and attach to the doors. Once I have one door on I run painters tape across the top of the frame so I can line up the other doors with the top of the first door.

Thanks a lot I will try with a deal more confidence in future, I especially like the "toothpaste trick" easy to remove. But all good, thanks again.
