How do I trim my gorgeous Hydrangeas?

I think I'm doing it wrong , when I remove the dying flowers I'm not sure where to cut it off to
promote new growth They are so beautiful , I feel that I'm not doing them any justice Thsnk you for any advice and hints you can provide
Remember to dead- head. Cut the spent bloom with a longish stalk., cut it where it connects to the branch. The blooms are also gorgeous dried.
Just cut the stem with the flower on it right above a leaf. I usually pick a double leaf joint
