How can I remove candle wax from a suede shoe?
My husband accidentally knocked over a candle that was on the ground and wax got all over his new shoes (just one).
cold pack it ....those cold compress gel packs you put on a sprained ankle? Will make the wax brittle and easy to scrape up. The other is to use an iron and paper toweling....low setting...set a stack of paper toweling over the wax...warm the wax up and the paper towels will absorb it. If the wax was colored it may leave a stain.
try putting paper or paper towel over the wax, warm and iron on lowest heat and press on top of it you may need to do that several times and after pressing move paper/paper town to fresh area, hopefully this will do the trick for you.
lay down a lay of 3-5 paper towels over the wax a carefully iron it on a cool setting. Repeat as necessary with fresh paper towels.
Heat and paper towels to soak up the wax . After you have pulled up as much as you can without damaging the wood , set your iron on medium , no steam and place several paper towels between the iron and the wax. Move the paper towel around as the wax melts into it. You may have to repeat several times to get it all , but this method has worked for me on wood , upholstery , carpet , you name it . I love candles and my four boys .
Put double paper towel down and place a warm iron over it to release the wax. Keep replacing the towels until no wax comes up. You may have to sand it down a bit then restain it to match.
