try using blood meal around them, you should be able to get some from gardening center or maybe your local ACE Hardware store.
To keep deer out of our garden, I've bought bars of Irish Spring bar soap. You grate the soap, then sprinkle it on the ground around your veggies. This might work on the squirrels too.

It might not look good but it works. String tin cans or old pie plates on a post. The noise keeps them away.
thanks! I will definitely try that Tip!
Dogs. My dogs have put the fear into the chipmunks after killing a few. There are pellets you can get at Home Depot that are deterrents.
We have purchased the pellets; I don't know if they are working or not; but I have to say in the spring we had so many so I guess it has helped a bit but they still are a menace in the garden! We have two two chipmunks that actually come to the porch patio door and tease our indoor cat. He goes nuts. WE have let him out a few times when they have their staring contests but they out smart him all the time. My husband and I are seniors and we always had a dog up to four years ago when he said no more; and that's how we adopted our cat. Cat's are easier and when we are on call for the grandkids it's so much easier to leave the cat as far as responsibilities than a dog. I must say, I miss having a dog here. If the hubby goes before me I will get a dog and he knows it too. lol
Thanks for all the suggestions. Juicy fruit gum is on the food list and I have lots of cans and tins from the recycle and I certainly will give this a try. They are so cute but they eat 90 percent of my harvest. Not fair. Thank you all!
