You really don't want to use poison on a fruit tree, are you able to cut some of the suckers off?
I've always just pulled or cut the suckers off any trees I have. It has not affected them. They only serve to take from the main tree. I definitely wouldn't use any kind of killer, it could get to the fruit. I do this to my own trees.
If you poison the suckers, you will probably kill the main roots of the tree because the main roots will draw the poison from the suckers. Chop them off, pull them or dig the suckers up.
Cut all the suckers off and treat with vinegar, no chemicals.
Thank you for all of the responses!
