Put crushed egg shells around the base of it. Its snails and slugs. The egg shells with stop them because they are sharp for them.
Try giving them daily "bubble baths". I fill a spray bottle with weather, add some dish soap, maybe teaspoon. Tip to mix. Spray both sides of leaves. Something is eating your leaves. I've done for years. It won't hurt the hosta. It will remove the bugs. New leaves should be ok. Take indoor plants outside so no mess inside. Hope this works for you.
Thanks so much! My hostas were beautiful last year.
You have slugs. Use slug bait
Those are probably from slugs...I have had that problem before, too. I have a couple of methods that I use. One is by putting beer in lids and laying around close to the base of the hosta. The slugs will crawl in and drown. Another is to make a mote about 6-8 inches from the base of the hosta and fill it with sharp pebbles or rocks. The don't like to crawl over sharp objects.
