I think part of your question cut off, Billie. Going out on a limb and guess because you said outside and white paint your looking on how to seal it to withstand the outdoors. Your best bet is going to be polycrylic unlike polyurethane it does not yellow. Apply to coats, lightly sanding in between and you should be good to go. If I'm way off base with my guessing just reply and I'll try it again. Good luck to you
Polycrylic and polyurethane are for interior use and will not hold up to outdoor elements, I learned the hard way many years ago. If you use an exterior paint that will protect it.
