Hello George, I recommend spreading shredded Irish Spring bar soap around and inside your gardens. You can shred the bars of soap on a box grater or even a food processor. This will deter deer and any other animals from your plants. Good luck.
My go to guy at the greenhouse suggested Blood Meal to keep the deer out of my flower beds and gardens. It's rather smelly when you apply it (once a month works well and also fertilize the plants at the same time.) The smell dissipates in a couple days. and so far deer and rodents are staying away from the beds.
Yep, Irish Spring... but I just bought cheap ones at Dollar Tree and put them out in my garden whole with red chili pepper flakes and cinnamon. All good advice from Hometalk! Just broke my soap up a little after rain, and reapplied peppers and cinnamon, too. Works great!!!
Also, hair. From your brush, or if you have a pet. The spices work on keeping the smaller critters out of your flowersππΏπππ
