Living close to the ocean, shoul we use artificial turf or plant sod?

What is the exact location?

From the yards I have seen on the Oregon coast, those close enough to the beach have dead yards. the salt kills grass so the yards are done with rock etc. The yards that the salt can't get to are beautifully green so it would depend on how easy access the salt has to the house on which you will want.

I live 1 mile from Huntington Beach. Have had artificial turf for about 8 years. Have the greenest lawn in the neighborhood, and no edging. wonderful!!

After living for many years on the west coast, I agree with the above comment that salt kills grass. Also, if you live near the ocean in a climate zone where it rains often (as opposed to the sunnier south) you will be fighting a losing battle against moss, mould, clover, and fungi such as mushrooms, not to mention all the weeds that do manage to grow in low sunlight.

Go Rocks, or Turf all the way!
