use them as feet for something crafty or paint or stain them for a craft project? Seems there are so many tossed in the trash. 2 or 3 cases a week up to 72 weekly just thrown away.

You seem to have quite a few good ideas already going! Another one that I thought of was if you have toddlers you could punch a hole in the middle, paint them bright colors, and use them as threading beads.
sell them on ebay to teachers needing them. A bag of 50 can bring $10 or $15 and the buyer pays shipping
