Is Creeping Charlie in your lawn a good thing or a bad thing?
Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
We keep trimming off as low as possible with loppers and before long they die. Do not try dabbing Round Up or such on the "trunk" as it just may spread to other plantings. But, I did hear someone say using a cotton swab and reapplying rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide will retard growth as it seals tubules needed for nutrition. Not sure about that.. but we're not experts. We just keep cutting.
Use your nippers and cut them off at the root.
People swear by using boiling water to kill them. Here’s a link that gives you more options, too. All cheap and pretty much home made.

Cut it down . Drill a hole in the stump and fill with salt .
If you have enough room to dig them out that is what I would do.
Depending on how big your little tree is but you can either dig it out or cut it off!
I agree with keep cutting. It will eventually loose it's ability to photosynthesize and keep it alive. With that said, it will then decompose. Leaving the cut end open will allow for insect attack. Hey, they could actually help instead of being pests!
In tight spaces I use a garden knife. Mine has a notched end so I can cut the roots deep down and pry it up. I can even get the black walnut saplings out, they are really tough to get rid of. I would not be without one of these, makes gardening so much easier.
