Years ago I had this same problem. I covered boxes with wrapping paper after cutting the lids off and sat my patterns in them. I also made some of the boxes with dividers using the lid tops.
There used to be, and I bought a ton of them for a whopping 50 cents each, but sadly Cloth World bit the dust ages ago as the parent company wasn't progressive enough. Here is what is on the market now along with some other suggestions from Pinterest. Good luck!

You can try a over sized file cabinet.
Check some thrift or second-hand stores or going out of business locations. Lots of times they have cabinets/shelving/etc that will work for patterns.
At the Container Store (online and near large malls) you should be able to find a clear plastic or other box that is the width you need, and is long enough to be practical. I don't know what kind of patterns you save but I would suggest a different bin for Fashion, Children, Vintage, and Homegoods. And don't cover them up. Let them "live" by being perused and used, and get old by nature. Best wishes 😇
Keep a pattern in your purse and when you go to Walmart, or anywhere, look at the rubber made type containers and drawers for ones that will be tall enough to stand your patterns in. That is what I did when they quit selling the containers I used to store DVD's in and I found what I needed at Fleet Farm of all places!
