Home decor- help with decorating

by Bonnie Kleiman
I am building a new retirement home for myself. I love all of my belongings and furniture. But, in my last home, I really want it to look GREAT and special. Should I hire an interior designer or a home stager for help in decorating with the belongings that I already have?

I will be in the same situation as you soon. Well, moving anyway:)

I too LOVE my things...I say..IF you can afford to hire a designer? Go for it ! Personally? I want MY creativity to shine. not someone elses. SO make darn sure they know you intend to have final say..and WANT TO KEEP YOUR TREASURES !!

    Best of luck !

I think that's a matter of preference and affordability.

Sometimes, it looks as if it could be worth asking for the help! I've seen lots of shows involving professional designers who really do come up with the best ideas!

If you felt that your previous decorating didn't give you the pizzas you were looking for, than research an interior designer that can assist you....if you've always been happy with your own style, stick with what you know!

Yes! I was lucky and had a friend who does this. A decorator or stager will show you some combinations and placements you hadn't considered. Just make it clear you are not interested in any major purchases.
