There are battery powered lights that you can buy. LED lights work the best. Just google battery powered lights and hopefully something will appeal to you.

they never last. More trouble than they are worth. get an electrician to install the light of your choice...descretely. It's worth the $$$

I've had an led motion detector light that lights up as soon as you walk into hall. Had it up for two years without changing batteries. They really work well. Saves lots of money as putting in a new outlet can be very expensive The lights are very bright and I like that they come on automatically
