I have eight orchids which I have had for over a year. I find that they love the morning sun. About once a week I put them in my kitchen sink and water them, also when I fertilize them I fix a sink of water with fertilizer and sit the plants in the sink and leave for awhile. I have found using the tree bark for the filling Is much better as orchids grow around the bottom of trees in Hawaii. I have attached a picture of two of mine. I had one orchid that continually bloomed for a year. Good luck!! Talk to them they love being told they are beautiful.
