Check your soil, and chemicals. Go to a hardware store, for the items you need to check the soil, then you will use them, and take a reading, to know for certain, exactly what the problem is. Perhaps you need some LYE in your soil, or something else. The reading will tell you. Best wishes, J.
Depending on where you live, most veggies will simply drop their flowers when the heat reaches above 90'. Everything in my garden does, except of course, the jalapenos. LOL
The flowers with the long stems, are the male flowers. Their purpose is to provide pollen for the bees to fertilize the female flowers; the flowers close to the main plant stem. Once pollinated, the flower drops off and the squash begins to grow. If no pollination within a reasonable time, the flowers drop off. No bees-- take a small paint brush and make like a bee.
