Sprinkle about a tablespoon of Epsom salt in the water.
Hello Margaret; This is what I do personally.
I cut my Hydrangeas at an angle. I place them in cool water immediately after cutting.
I then mix up in the vase one Tablespoon of Sugar and one Tablespoon of Epsom salt. Mix this very well.
After the water looks clear, add the cut flowers.
I hope that this helps you!! Take Care!
I have heard you are supposed to put the stems in super hot water for 5 minutes! Have not tried this but hope it works for you!

This sounds cruel, but when you cut them you need to cut at an angle and smash the stem with a rubber hammer. It lets the water up through so they last longer.
You are Welcome, Margaret!
