Steel shower rod - rusting, would love some suggestions/feedback...

about 6 months after we bought it, it started to rust. We cleaned it, sprayed it again with silver paint and addrd a layer of polyurethane in the hopes it wouldn't rust. Well, it rusted and it's pitting also. We're not sure if there is any way to fix it but would love some suggestions/feedback

The rust is probably coming through the paint layers. Try priming with a layer of KILZ and then repaint and poly.
Have you tried one of those plastic rod covers that you can put around a shower curtain rod. They also make rust resistance curtain rods.
I think I'd just use rustoleum spray paint no? If not? Guess a new plastic or stainless steel one is in order..:(
They do make a rust resistant curved shower curtain rod, found on Amazon.
