stir 1 cap-full liquid softener into 1 quart (1 liter) water and sponge the solution onto the wallpaper. Let it soak in for 20 minutes, then scrape the paper from the wall. If the wallpaper has a water-resistant coating, score it with a wire-bristle brush before treating with the fabric softener solution.

Hire a steamer from the hardware store. I tried the fabric softener method, and using the wallpaper steamer was much easier. Also the softener is messy and the smell, which is initially nice, becomes nauseating!

it stripped wallpaper layers of wallpaper in my first home by filling a spray bottle with about half and half water and acetone. what I did was peel off what ever I could so I was left with just the backing. Starting at the top working down I then sprayed saturating as much as possibl, I mean soaked it and used a scraper to scrap it down. i did give it time to soak through the paper and even along edges where I could not get the "top" of paper by peeling. it came off so easy this way. i coukdnt believe it. i had my entired diningroom done in no time

Buy a wallpaper steamer at Home Depot. It is worth the $60.00. I used mine when I purchased my first home and removed 3 layers of wallpaper quickly and easily!

This is the BEST advice. My Wallpaper steamer has been used over and over. More and any other tool I own. I have changed wall paper a few times in the 30+ years in this house.

Beautiful!!! That's what I'm wanting to do in my kitchen!!! But I need to strip 2 walls of wallpaper!!!

The old fashioned way was to soak the wall in warm water, leave it to sink in, then start stripping the wallpaper off.

The absolutely best way to get off wallpaper is to mix downey with water in a spray bottle and soak down the walls, wait 20 minutes, soak them down again...you are getting the idea. The wetter the better and your room will smell fantastic! You can also buy one of the scoring tools at Lowes or Home Depot for around $10 and it puts tiny holes in the paper to help the water get behind it and it comes off easier. We have stripped off tons of wallpaper and this is the cheapest way to get it off. Hope this helps.
