I really don't like painted steps and my husband caulked the porch where there were cracks and I don't like the looks of it at all. Any suggestions?
You could paint them with concrete paint in a color matching your house trim or a nice one that you like. Then get a sack of mortar mix to face the front of the steps with, and set those gem rocks from the dollar store into the mortar while still wet so they dry into the mortar.Or you could paint designs on the facings with stencils which can be bought at Hobby Lobby or most craft stores. For the paints I suggest you get the colors you want at Lowes in the little sample cans. This is less expensive and won't wash off like stencil paint.Have fun!
I really like @DianeBrewer's ideas. I would like to see the stoop painted. Then, with the mortar in place, mount ceramic tiles. Decorative tiles are often on sale, especially open boxes. You will only need 6-8 Best wishes 😇
We had a small front stoop on our house for several years. I finally got my son and brother to help me cover the stoop and steps with a frame and screwed some Trex decking over it. I also added a railing on each side for stability. It cost me about $150 to do the whole thing.
