Before doing anything, have a consult with an arborist. Covering or cutting into tree roots could compromise the tree, and it could become unstable or die and that is one big beautiful tree! I would be sad to see anything bad happen to it.
I would incorporate the tree in the extension If possible - maybe put a higher /elevateddeck area so roots wont disrupt new pavers
Is there a way to darken laminate floors
way to eliminate millipedes
Without seeing the area you want to extend in it is tough to say.
clean the area completely out to see what you have to start with. The exchange the white iron supports with something (anything) else. The raised decking go go over the whole thing but even just over the tree roots is a great idea. Then shop for all new patio furniture that doesn't need to be exspensive stuff. Little adjustments hear and there as time goes. You will think of things you like or want once you have something to work with. The white iron is sooooo dated. Get it out and you have a good start. The tree is beautiful! I'd love to have a tree like that in my yard. I think if you just build a "floating" porch that's off the ground about 6-12" your problem will be solved. I can't see the door so I don't know if you are able to raise the floor, but if you search for "floating deck" on the hometalk website, you will see what I'm talking about. Good luck! P.S. We just extended our patio this summer and put a metal roof over half of it. (I got the idea for the hanging lattice screens from a Pinterest post. I love it!
