Does any of the white rub off or is it in the leaf? Has this orchid been exposed to the cold?

The orchid is an air plant and likes very bright sunlight, not direct. They don't like to be overwatered either. It looks like it may need to be repotted. Hope this helps.

Last summer I had a similar problem with my orchid and was just about to throw it out. Instead I put it outdoors under a tree where it would get partial sun. That white looks like aphids and it needs get wiped down. Use a little dish soap (I use Dawn) and water and gently wipe leaves top and underside. I would repot it well. Expect to lose those yellowish leaves.

This may be a particular fungus. Try a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and water in equal parts. Just Add Ice is a terrific resource for orchid care. They may be able to even identify exactly what type of infection you may have.

OOPS! You use the cotton balls to clean the leaves. And it's a good idea to isolate it from any other orchids that may pick up what it has.
