I removed the large yellow flowers and replaced with plastic wall anchors. I cut the anchor short and placed it in the hole. It is large enough for the hummers to get their beaks in but too small for the bees to get a sip. With the original flowers I was cleaning out massive amounts of dead bees every day. It was just awful.
we use Eucalyptuses oil. apply to the openings on the hummingbird feeders. the bees do not like the smell and will not land on the feeder and the hummingbirds will still feed.
Bees and wasps are attracted to yellow, but hummingbirds are not. Just spray paint everything on your feeder red.
Try Slipping nectar guard tips over hummingbird feeder holes.
Also, you can hang some fake bee or wasp nests near by to deter them- good luck!
