Squash bugs are the bane of my existence. Once they find you, they never, ever go away. What I do is spray them with soapy water or squish them. Check under the leaves for masses of coppery colored eggs. I use duct tape to remove them or you can scrape them off with a fingernail and put them in a bucket of soapy water. I use Surround clay to protect, this is my first year, and it seems to prevent them from getting to the plant. That being said, I am finding it a hassle having to reapply after our frequent afternoon thundershowers. Turn your soil in the winter to expose any over wintering and remove all debris that they can hide in. It is a constant battle, even with taking a break from cucurbits for 3 years, I still get the buggers.
