    Rent a floor chipper!

If its Ceramic ( or porcelain ) the tile chipper is the way to go. Runs off a small compressor, its like a mini jackhammer on a long handle. Trust me, its the ONLY way to go. If the floor is something that is glued down, vinyl, peel-an-press, etc. I would strongly suggest you consider laying new underlayment on top of the existing, and go from there. Removing glued down vinyl type flooring is messy, time consuming, requires heating the existing to loosen the flooring and the vapors given off are carcinogenic, requiring the use of a chemical vapor respirator.
