Here is some great information on how to grow an avocado from seed. Good Luck!

We live in Hawaii and they fall on the ground all the time then sprout. They are part way exposed and they will open up and sprout so just set part way in the dirt. Avocados are mostly grafted so what you get from the seed will not always be what you think it will be.
Here is a link for you! Fun project!

Hello Muriel; Yes, you can! I have grown them before. A Friend of mine grew one from a seed, and his bore Fruits by the bucket's!!!
I am unsure where you are located, but if you gave freezing weather, then I doubt if the tree will make it outside, as mine do not!!
I hope that this helps you!! Take Care!
Seed can be lightly punctured with toothpicks 1/2 way down. Put see bottom into glass of water but do not submerge the whole seed. When the root comes at least 3 inches you can plant into a pot but know that it will never reliably give you fruit and if fruit does happen it may take as many as 10 years. It will give lovely foliage.
Thank you very much Rnlass2 I appreciate the help. Muriel
Thank you I live in Florida. So I should be able to grow one I appreciate your taking time to help me.
