When you see ants, soak a cotton ball in the following solution and place beside every ant hill you see.
To keep away from children and pets, you can put the cotton ball in a used plastic container like a margarine tub with 2 or 3 ant sized holes poked around the bottom. Set the container beside the ant hill.
Ant Bait Solution
1 1/2 Cups warm water
1 1/2 TBSP Borax (make sure it's Borax)
mix until dissolved
add
1/2 Cup Sugar
mix until dissolved.
Store in airtight container.
THIS IS TOXIC TO HUMANS AND PETS

6 Ways to Deal With Ants in the House
Ant problems: what can I do to get rid of the pests?
Use a potato chip bag, preferbably onion flavor. partly close the bag leaving a hole for the ants to crawl inside. Put the bag in the path of the ants, but in an inconsicuouse spot so that dogs can't get to it. leave it for a few days. The grease will attract the ants but the onion will kill them. You can also use a dried fruit container i.e., raisin. Place the throw away onion portion inside the bag and partially close it leaving a gap for the ants to crawl in. If you are a sadist, you can use a clear zip lock bag and place something sweet and the throw away portion of an onion in, partially close the bag and place it where you can watch the killing chamber in action.
If they are inside, call an pest company.. They will treat your house and do it right..
Use a mix of powder sugar and borax.... they will eat this and carry back to the nest killing all.... you have to be willing to see them and not try to kill them.... they need to carry it back.....
TERMINEX!
Sprinkle your used coffee grounds around the foundation of your home. Along the sidewalk area, I sprinkle the coffee grounds and sweep them into the cracks of the foundation. An elderly neighbor told me this and I haven't had an ant in my house since. Not only does it stop the ants, but it fertilizes the flowers. .
use food grade diatomatious earth at any hardware store.. sprinkle where ever ants.. or any bugs are .. it cuts the exoskeleton of their shell and they dehydrate and die.
Use food grade diatomacious earth and they will take it back to the nest and they won't come back. Use regular DE if it is outside. For indoors use food grade. It will not harm pets or children. I moved into my apartment and thought I was living in an ant colony. Use the DE and that same day they were gone.
