Before you toss out any old art work and definitely before you toss that empty toilet paper roll to the trash ... you might want to consider this. This project will forever be a topic in your home. Trust me you will become extremely hesitant about tossing empty rolls in the trash ever again.
Step 1. Find a canvas or and old art piece to bring back to life. This particular painting no longer fit the image of my living room space, however I love the size of the canvas and I wanted a massive art piece to take its place. So instead of tossing it in the garbage I decided to make it my next master piece.
Step 2 Take your collection of saved empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls, don't worry, the are the same size.... I used 78 rolls all together this took me about two months to save, plus I asked friends to save theirs also, which was a big help.
Step 3...
flatten the rolls smoothly then cut into half inch size pieces. Be very sure that the cuts are even and not higher than the frame of the painting. Grab something to drink or watch a movie during this process, it helped time fly by smoothly and I just kept cutting until the bag was empty.
Step 4 Glue four clipped pieces, together to look like a butterfly or an X and then continue to connect each piece together. Every piece should connect to each ene. There should not be any loose pieces, double check if you have too. it should look like this. "XXXX" all the way across and then begin the next row.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
could you also use it as a head board?
Question: What is keeping the cardboard rolls stuck to the background? I didn't notice how you glued them onto the picture.
What size was your canvas? That will give me an idea of what size to make?
