That's pretty ornate! I would begin by taking off the drawer pulls and using something more simple. Can the molding on the doors come off? if so, I would remove it and then paint whatever color you like.

Remove all doors and draw fronts, paint a color of your choice and use as open shelving or TV stand.

  • Wow! Can't wait to see what you come up with. 😆

Remove the handles for sure and chose something more simple. This piece would great in off white or that new funky turquois that you see on so many pieces. And if that is a little too bold, then try a little dry brush to give a shabby chic look.

Even a very busy dresser looks "cleaned up" with solid paint. Once the wood grain is out of the picture even the handles look better.

Hello January; I personally like your Dresser!!!

Broyhill is a fine furniture company. They make solid wood furniture that lasts!!!

I wish that I knew what style you are going after. If you do desire to paint this piece, it would look awesome with some creamy white highlights. It would look Antique. I would leave the pulls alone, as they give it a French flair!!!

I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!

Challenge accepted! I also have/had Broyhill ( chest of drawers, dresser set )

I removed pulls and faces, spray painted them with Rustolium Wheel Paint ( guarantees not to peel ) and repurposed them as shutters on our temporary mobile home while we are building our dream cabin!

I have added an old school cafeteria table top And removed the middle drawers for shelving To Re-purpose the dresser as my crafting table with storage for tools and supplys in the garage!

be sure to keep or resale the hardware. The mid-1970ish are $$$

January; It is easy to decide that you are sick of something or want something newer, or new looking.

Most quality pieces of furniture are easily overlooked, in that way.

If want to make the pieces look Antique, I would very lightly add a small thin bit of an off white to the wood grain.

I hope that this helps you!! Take Care!

Paint it a nice bright high gloss color. Keep the hardware - just clean/paint. Several examples:
