Why not, but I would sit it on paving or Brick Pads to help it last!
I agree with John. Placing it on bricks or cinder blocks will help preserve the wood and make it last longer.
If at all possible, I would use 12" or larger cement pavers. Unless the wood platform is sturdy enough, you do not want a tripping hazard. Glad you have shade too! Make sure to keep them hydrated!
Hello Anita; Yes, you can do this. I would build up the area with extra dirt. Also, Please insure that the dirt is level, and also the wood.

You will want to keep it off the ground or it will rot, treated or not.
You can but you have to make sure you have a level base, I prefer adding sand so you can work a little with the base
