Found this metal form at Goodwill. Not certain what it was originally intended for. I could see the makings of a topiary and went to work creating just that.
The bonus is that this metal form includes a base. This kept it supported while I worked.
This mossy mat is amazing! I covered a large area and still have a half sheet left.
Covered the styrofoam ball with moss and hot glued it to the top of the form.
I had a surplus of artificial green boxwood bushes. Each one had 7 branches. Using wire cutters, I cut each branch from the main stem. This allowed me to slide the sprigs off the wires.
There is a tiny hole in the center of each sprig of greenery. I inserted a floral pin through the hole and added four per pin.
Next I pushed each of these groupings into the moss covered styrofoam ball.
Make sure to pin very close to each other.
Continue pinning until the styrofoam ball is evenly covered.
I purchased the urn several months ago at an outdoor flea market. Turned out to be the perfect size for my topiary. I cut pieces of the mossy mat and attached it around the styrofoam at the base of the topiary.
Almost completed. Still needs a trunk.
To create the appearance of a trunk, I cut multiple twigs from a tree branch, placed them around the center support and wrapped wire around it. Also wired it to the frame. Added several bunches of sprigs at the bottom of the styrofoam ball to hide the wire.
I love topiaries inside and out. They add such a touch of organic interest and natural beauty to almost any decor.
