Back to school time has us thinking of books and if you have some old and useless paperbacks laying around there are lots of fun projects to create. I made a table runner and it's another simple project that anyone can do.
I found some old travel guide books that were outdated in my home office and decided to put them to use. First the covers were ripped off and I made sure that I used enough books to do this and some other projects.
I dyed the books by soaking in strong coffee for about an hour. Once finished I laid the books on the grass on a sunny day to dry them. Next pages were carefully torn out and I have some additional tips on my blog at Shabbyfufu that will show how to work with this.
So easy! All this project takes is a glue gun and working to create a long runner gluing the ends on an angle.
If you are planning on saving this for future use I recommend making sure that the paper is nice and dry and you'll be able to roll it up for the next time. Use it for a book club party or back to school night for a fun tablesetting that will be talked about often.
See my blog Shabbyfufu that is linked below for more details and lots of beautiful ideas for your home!

I like this but I am thinking more along the lines of mod podging it on a coffee table.

This would be awesome for Reading Centers in classrooms and for Family Reading Night at schools!
