Question about metal top island

I have a wood island that has a stainless steel top. Over the past year it has become quite scratched. Is there anything I can use/do, short of covering it with a wood top, that will get rid of the scratches???

  • Use a white 3-M sanding pad. It will blend in the scratches and give the stainless a more uniform look. You can polish the stainless using automotive polish and a buffing machine. Start with the red auto polish and work to the white polish. Use a mixture of water and polish and keep it wet. The stainless will eventually smooth out looking new and shiny again.
