Notice major humidity issue after purchase of mobile home, no extra cash for dehumidifier or roof repair at the moment. Some mold has appeared on bathroom cabinet doors and a mushroom at base of floor/tub.

If you do not locate the exact source of the mold it will continue to show up. Trailers are known for growing mold inside the walls long before showing up on cabinets. I say this from personal experience. Contact a professional to have this issue checked...as it can mean your health.

yes Please contact a professional. My sister is still dealing with health issues caused by mold. It's not something to wait on

  • Get it inspected ASAP. In the meantime take photos before cleaning. Buy or borrow fans and place in every room of the house to get the air moving and keep as many windows open as possible.

Then go back to your inspection report, contact your realtor and if you were provided with a one year home warranty - this is the time to use it.

Attack the mold you can see with vinegar. If you can't afford much, at least buy a tarp or two and rope. Tie it down over the top of your mobile home. Do not cover any of the vents with the tarps. Cut holes if you need to. Back in the bathroom, start removing one piece of paneling at a time. Whether or not there is mold behind that piece, pull out the insulation and dust. Clean the wall behind it and both sides of the paneling with vinegar and baking soda. Clean the narrow slice of floor with bleach, as well as any studs, the roof, anything else you can reach. Unless you see mold on it, pile the same insulation back in or replace it. Nail that piece of paneling back and go on to the next. This is a very low cost way to put a band aid on a gusher, but it will help for a while. Best wishes 😇

I agree, attack the mold with vinegar or if you'd like- bleach. And the make sure to scrape off the area that was attacked with mold. best of luck!

If you bought your mobile home through a dealer, is there still time left on the warranty? If so, call them. Mold is so dangerous for your health. Bleach is the best method to kill mold.
