Hello Geralean, We had an above ground pool in our last house. I strongly urge you to put rock around the pool. With splashing and playing in the pool, water goes up and over the pool walls. Without rock there, you will have a lot of mud to contend with. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
you might build decking around your pool and plant in pots. Watch for things that attract bees. I'm not sure where you live but Sunset gardening book has some excellent suggestions
