Are you removing the island and want to use it as the base? If so it should not be too hard to install either a nice piece of granite or wood on the top to make a table out of it.
Hi Lillian, So what type of kitchen island do you have? There are plenty of articles and videos on the web about how to turn a table into a kitchen island, but you want to do the reverse. That makes it more difficult to picture the process, so a picture would hlp immensely in laying out an idea ;)
I would add a new top to it so it over hangs and leave the base. You could even try to create some storage in the base by cutting shelves out.
