You need to use masonry anchors after you drill the hole. They are specially made to hold up on brick or masonry walls. You can buy them at a hardware or home improvement store.
If it can be hung by a screw, drill a hole in the wall using a concrete drill bit. Then screw in the appropriate-sized concrete screw.
You can drill into either but you'll need to use a drill bit made for brick or mortar. I would ask someone at the hardware store. Also you'll need screws made for brick. If you're hanging a picture they make special hangers that attaches in between the bricks.
You need a masonry bit for concrete. I have always drilled into the brick.
I have hung pictures on a brick wall with screws. Of course you will need a drill to make holes through the brick.
Not a special drill, a special drill bit. Drill bits that can drill through concrete are called masonry bits. They are also good for drilling through brick and stone. Drill bits with a tungsten carbide tip are the strongest; when it comes to solid concrete, the sharper the better. Masonry bits cut holes through concrete in two steps. The tip of the drill bit is larger in diameter than the shaft below so that when the shaft reaches the hole, it fits right in. Drilling at a lower speed is more efficient for drilling through concrete, and it prevents the bit from overheating. Drill bits come in a range of standard lengths and wall plug sizes.
Masonry bits with a carbide or durium tip specifically intended for hammer drills are more efficient and penetrate hard surfaces better and faster. Any type of drill can be used with standard drill bits for masonry work, but regular drills may not be the best choice for particularly tough jobs.
You will need a masonry bit for your drill and here is a link to help with some instructions and tips: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/hang-pictures-brick-walls-56955.html
Yes, you need what is called a mortar bit, just look at Lowe's or Home Depot. Make sure the screws you are using are the same size as the drill bit you buy. What is Molly's skin?

you should use a masonry drill bit in an ordinary drill. There are anchors for brick and stone that are found in any hardware store.
You'll need a masonry bit and a hammer drill -- plus lots of strength to push the drill. I just finished hanging several things.
They make metal brackets for hanging things, especially for brick walls.....ask your local hardware store...I had some at one time but haven't any now. Other wise do as Carol said but I always drilled into the mortar rather than the brick.
yes you need a drill bit for cement. It takes some time. Then a Molly with your screw. But ince that screw is is there it's good to go.
Big box stores like Home Depot, etc., carry hangers specifically for brick. There is no need to drill into your brick if you use one of these hangers.
there are specific hangers made for brick do not drill.. in sure amazon has them.. I usually run across them at Christmas time in local stores
yes, you'll meet a cement drill.
to hang pictures on our brick fireplace, we found some metal clips that go between the bricks on the mortar and the pressure of a hanging picture keeps the clips secure.
I would not drill into the brick or the mortar, the home repair stores have hangers that work on brick. If you don't have a store near you, check out their websites.
