there every were help
prevention is key. skeeters start out as larva swimming in stagnate water. get rid of standing water. this might include water collecting under potted plants, bird baths. fountains if running and recirculating are moving water and should be ok if left on. there are biologic dunks and granules available at big box stores

i have a oil diffuser with peppermint in it
You can't ever get rid of mosquitos. All you can do is make it inhospitable for them to stay on your property. Eliminate anything that possibly could hold water that won't be constantly have movement like fountains or small ponds that have pumps that keep the water moving. Bird baths should have the water changed frequently, like every couple days. Pots that have saucers under them should be kept dry. There are sprays or foggers that you can use if you know you are having a gathering. There are many plants that deter mosquitos, there are many places you can check for which ones. I use citronella geraniums myself. You can use the citronella candles, the rings you light work well also. I also have one of those bug zappers you hang off a pole or the eaves and plug in. They also have those hand held bug zappers that use batteries and you just swat them in the air, just don't touch the wires yourself or you will get a mild zap yourself. Those are fun. I take one with me when I go up into my veggie garden and end up stirring them up out of the plants. Avons skin so soft works real well if you don't want to use the usual mosquito repellents. I live in an older neighborhood with lots of very mature trees that give shade, so we have an abundance of mosquitos no matter what you do, all you can do is make it hard for them to stay around.
dump all standing water and spray area that you're using. If I don't get a chance to spray, I set up fans all over the area were in. This works great also.
Remove all sources of habitat that includes improving drainage, removing anything containing water like old tires, cups, bowls etc. , put mosquito eating fish in any water ponds. There are some quite innovative traps made from a fan and screen with a bit of alcohol that gets lots of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJPDDR_djX8 I have seen some put a bottle of seltzer water in front of it as they are attracted to CO2.
Then there is a natural yard spray https://greenerways.com/collections/lawn-and-garden-insect-spray-usda-organic-natural-repellent/products/usda-organic-natural-lawn-and-garden-insect-repellent-spray-32oz I love their bug spray.
Mosquito Dunks works wonders on killing larvae but not harming pets or wildlife. : )
We back up to dense conservation land and had a lot of mosquitoes - even in the day. We set up this mosquiyo magnet http://www.homedepot.com/p/Mosquito-Magnet-Patriot-Plus-Mosquito-Trap-MM4211/206689473?cm_mmc=Shopping%7CTHD%7Cgoogle%7C&mid=sBSuKc76P%7Cdm_mtid_8903jx325196_pcrid_107016477808_pkw__pmt__product_206689473_slid_&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl8_Fo6_L1QIV2AqBCh1zmAb1EAQYBCABEgKCzvD_BwE and saw a difference. Also, when we sit out on the deck at night, we have an fan going to create a light breeze. Mosquitos can't fly in wind.
If you only need to get rid of them when you are outside entertaining simply put on a fan and they will disappear since they can't fly because of the air movement
Try lavender water. Smells great and keeps them away. Safe for chchildren.
I am a mosquito magnet, they love me and don't bother my hubby at all. I have found that the critters don't like eucalyptus, so I have the essential oil which I add to coconut or baby oil and lightly rub on me and they stay away. Also Avon makes Skin So Soft in spray bottles and they don't like it either.
For a longer term solution, put up a bat box nearby. Bats eat mosquitoes!
1st make sure that all stagnate water is dumped and they can not grow in it.. if your sitting outside using white sage by lighting one end, than blowing it out and letting just the smoke drift around the area has worked for me.
