Hello Coke; If I were doing this, I would use Martha Stewart Glass Paints.
You should be able to easily locate these paints at Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics, and also at some Wal-Marts.
I hope that this helps you!!!! Take Care!
Hi :) I have a link with directions on how to remove frosting from glass, which I would suppose would include a light fixture. So with this process IF you want clear swirls in frosted glass you would be making the swirls by gently scraping away the prepared frosting. If you want frosted swirls in clear glass, you would remove all of the frosting EXCEPT what you use for the swirls. Good Luck :) Thank you for using Hometalk for answers :)

You can get spray frost for doing glass and mirrors, I would use that and a stencil. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=how+to+frost+glass+with+spray+paint&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
You should be able to find paint just for that at a craft store.
Check out Alcohol ink
Look for "glass paint" at your local craft store, and follow the directions.
