I did a wall in old jelly molds and had fun looking for them in thrift stores all over. 3d art.... Now in this house in my kitchen I have some very creative butterfly and flower plates, and Imari ware and colbalt glass.
Look for tall and narrow decor. I had a similar situation and used a tall rectangular mirror. Spell a word with wooden letters vertically, or arrange photos or paintings in a vertical position.
I had a similar wall but it was in a bedroom. I bought 3D wall paper that looked like brick. I like the brick look and it looks so authentic!
How about a ceiling to floor strip of attractive ceramic or glass tiles in a pleasing design? Good luck!
Since it's a kitchen, you could hang plates in a vertical arrangement. Or what about an accent wall in stacked (faux) stone? AirStone in Spring Creek (gray) or Birch Bluff (white/beige) would look great with white, if a stone feature would work with your decor.
Mirror tiles will add light to room little framed tiles, herringbone antiqued mirror tiles.... bevled mirror tiles... Can attach to plywood or directly on wall
i suggest this because mirrors make small rooms sewn a little roomier illusion
let us know what you're final decision is
How about a couple of shelves with cookbooks and bookends - decorative and practical.
Put a quote on the wall or a large initial for your name. Since your kitchen is white, you could add a pop of color by using a colored quote or painting the initial .
Easy fix is a black board...custom make size with cut to size wood from home depot, custom size masonite...stain wood or paint, use wood glue to add frame wood to masionite after coating it with black board paint...jazz up the wood frame with a stained yardstick...or brass tacks..whatever works with your decor.
Thinking a focus wall with ship lap, pallet wood or faux stone would be fun it would add extra character and depth without adding bulk
a row of art framed in the same way might be nice. use all black and white photos all framed in same simple frame and of abt the same size to create a gallery-type line of art.
I was cut off. Try hanging different kitchen items. Wooden spoon, spatula, hand can opener, meat fork, recipe on 3x5 file card. Get whatever you have extra of put the pile on the table and experiment, with putting this on the wall and what looks best Put a small shelf near the top and put a cookbook on it. Good Luck!
First, instead of thinking of it as a empty wall think of it more as a blank canvas. Since it's in the kitchen you could paint it a different color to add some interest and brighten the space, you could hang some plates or floating shelves with some vintage looking signs that you could make yourself, you could also hang some contact paper of an interesting design. Let your imagination run wild and have fun!
Paint it with chalkboard paint or cover it with a sheet of metal flashing to make either a chalkboard or metal board message station.
Where is this spot? You can do something useful or just decorative. If it is in a busy pathway, pick a theme and hang something interesting to match your taste.
If it is in an out of the way place, make a wine or coffee station. I saw a wine cabinet built out on TV. they made shelves like a small box without a top the depth of a wine bottle on 3 sides of the closet. The wine bottles laid on their sides along the wall instead of in cubby holes. These would be easy to build and either paint or stain (stain stays cleaner looking longer). The average wine bottle is just over 11" so you would have plenty of room to allow for the ends.
You could make a shelf in the middle for the bar implements.
You can bet no one else would have one of these.
An alternate would be a mini pantry for cans. Turn the labels out as part of your decorations! Allowing for the space needed for lumber, you could get 4-5 cans on each shelf.
If you are a pet lover, make a dogie or cat...decorate with paw prints from your pet.
You could hang pegboard (they make metal ones) lengthwise and hang measuring cups, spoons, etc. from it.
