They make a motion detector pet deterrent hose attachment which you can train them to stay away, you can move it around where needed. https://www.amazon.com/Hoont-Powerful-Outdoor-Blaster-Repeller/dp/B01N3P1JTG/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1502429243&sr=8-11&keywords=motion+detector+pet+deterrent
You can purchase a deterant from most lowes or Home Depot type stores. It is made of pepper juice and cats hate it but will not harm the plants. i have also heard that lemon peels in the soil will also turn them away, but if you do that be sure to watch for mold. One more idea woul be to add decorative glass "stones" on top of the soil.

Crushed egg shell scattered over the soil cats don't like it as it gets under there claws doesn't hurt the cats just deters them
Anything that makes noise will chase them away. Even a motion light will work.

Good luck!
put orange or lemon rinds in the plant - cats don't like citrus
Moth balls they don't like them
I would put some dry cayenne pepper flakes around some of the plants. This should deter them. Good Luck!
Add large pine cones. When they start to soften after a while replace them with fresh cones. The prickly pines cones will deter them from stepping Into the beds
I know it sounds crazy, but I solved my problem by putting clear plastic forks in my flower bed. Stick them into the soil handle-side down, with the tines sticking up. They can't "do the job" if they can't "assume the position". It worked for me 😀
Crushed hazelnut shells, but be careful because they can be sharp.
barbeque wooden skewers in the soil works perfectly and cost effective too
Get a motion activated sprayer at your local diy store, it will spray them when they come near and kitties don't like to get wet.
