The closet has contractor white shelves and open hanging that you see at all the big box stores.

if the shelves are already semi framed in, you would just have to purchase the door(s) of an appropriate size to fit the opening and install. Sliding doors or barn type doors would be relatively easy to do. If the closet is completely open, you would have to build a frame of 2x4 lumber leaving an appropriately sized opening for the doors prior to installation and cover any 'extra' space with drywall or shiplap

Thanks Holly - I don't think I phrased the inquiry correctly. This is a walk in closet. In the closet they put the shelves inside the boxes. I would like to put doors on these boxes. I think I need to put a 2 x 2 frame on the front of the boxes and attach the doors to the frame. I just don't know how to put the 2 x 2 frame on.

      Thanks, Sophia

If the contractor used a closet system like ClosetMaid or others, you will just need to purchase new pieces in the configuration you desire. If there is no structure like that, just a closet rod with a shelf above, you could hang kitchen cabinets above the rod.

Or have you investigated a hidden hinge application? The doors would need to fit over the boxes' existing frame, but the hinges get attached to the inside of the box.
