When do you trim back knockout roses - live in SC
My knockout rose bushes are getting so lanky and big that I'd like to cut them back. When should I trim them?
Hello Marlaanhackett, I always use the old farmer's method when it comes to pruning: From Spring thru Fall, only prune during months that have an "R" in their name. For example, you can prune in April but not in May. May does not have an R in it. I have used this method for many years and it has always worked well for me. Good luck.
early spring
Well, I don't know where you live but I have found that no matter when I trim them or cut them to the ground, they grow back to full height in about 3 months!

Dogwoods are trees, so if you don't want them to grow up to about twenty feet, trim the top and bottom branches back in the winter or very early spring. Best wishes 😇
