You could make a rustic one from free hard wood pallets many stores offer if you ask (some charge minimal fee but all our town shops give them away) You could buy an old used one in a 2nd hand store or garage sale and apply chalk paint. Make your own chalk paint with 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup plaster of Paris, mix well, add 1 cup latex paint. Chalk paint is always in style but more so now! Use a good brush or natural bristle brush, not a cheap one to save frustrations
Have you tried your local Secondhand Market or Thrift /Charity Shop?? May save you work.
Vintage dressers will work. Check your local thrift stores and flea markets.
Rehabitat stores / Goodwill --any period furniture that you like - paint is cheap!
I would find a vintage 2-drawer dresser in your style, and then convert it... I've done these for friends. I'm into mid-century myself, and I've taken small cupboards and put those angled wooden legs on them from True Value or Ace Hardware (usually have to order from their catalog). I remove the top drawer(s) put a 1x1 wooden trim at the back of the dresser the same height as the front opening to rest a piece of wood veneer or 1/4 plywood as the floor of the opening. Sometimes I put a piece of 1/8 moulding to hide the plywood. Sometimes I switch out the knobs. You can use the drawers for media cords, tapes and cds.

The other one I love, is converting an old TV casing into a cabinet by adding your legs to the base. http://www.joyzz.com/article-509.html
I might add I've gotten most of these dressers and TVs on the curb in my neighborhood on trash day and I throw them in my little station wagon to become furniture for my disabled clients and friends. Take a drive around an older neighbor hood on the evening before trash day.
How about a old TV cabinet turned into a bar and TV stand... https://www.pinterest.com/pin/145311525452102374/
