Hello Carol; Your Home is quite Beautiful, airy, and the lightening is Fabulous!!!
Would it be possible for you to use Command Hooks, and then be able to hang Pictures, a Rug, or a Mirror??
do a picture gallery. that way it doesn't have to be something large.
WOW HOW STUNNING!! You going to have such a great time redecorating. I would put Wayne's coating in the entry way and up the stairs it will add that over the top classic look. Place on left wall a large scale chest or grand entry table with large scale mirror. Under the stairs add chairs and small table if the spot can hold two chairs. Add long area rid as you enter making it reach just passed the under the stair section. Heres are some photos that I hope will help finish your gorgeous home. Also check out ballards, houzz and ethen Allen for more decorating ideas.
I see all kinds of space for a gallery wall at the top of the stairs and above the archway at the left. And for a bit more drama, I would put battery operated votive candles in tiny clear votive candle holders, and put these on the outside of each step. Double stick tape or a little putty could keep them in place. You could wire a string of lights so you only have to plug in the lights when you want the staircase to look extra special. You have a gorgeous foyer. Best wishes đŸ˜‡
How about painting a mural of vines or whatever decor would go with your BEAUTIFUL STAIR WAY? My sister in-law did it in her bathroom because of the same reason, her wall around her tub were curvey
It so happens that this morning I read an article in the newspaper about large wall decals and how easy they are to use and remove. There are all sorts of styles, including sayings. Check out Wayfair, Amazon, Pinterest, etc. for some ideas.
There are some great wallpapers that look like reclaimed wood, ship lap, etc. Contemporary textured ones that can be painted. These will look as though you've had an expert finish carpenter work hard to fit the curves.
As far as hanging art on the curved walls, think about getting some very large period posters that go with your decor. There are plastic "frameless" frames for posters that you could gently get to the proper curve by slightly heating them and bending to match the curve.
Another thought on art is to use batik or other cloth hangings using a curved shower curtain rod.
Beautiful colorful quilts could hang on the wall.
i would use it to put a gallary of family pictures
Okay - love the ideas! I should have taken current pictures now that we have moved in and sort have unpacked most of our stuff - you will see boxes in the living room but waiting on the trim carpenter to build something for that wall.....all takes time! Here are current pictures (hard to get the real picture of the view:/)......we traveled extensively prior to my neuromuscular disease diagnosis (and some since then) so we were thinking maybe putting canvas prints of some of the many places we traveled to as a collage of prints.......nails/hooks are not an issue as we have hung many pictures already with nails and picture hooks. We have a lot of antiques in the house so the travel pictures would reflect some of that as well......just thinking out loud :) Thanks for ALL of the ideas! Love them!!! Still thinking - would also make great group photo pictures at the holidays or wedding pictures! Our builder suggested using the staircase for wedding photos for brides......His son was getting married a month or so before he mentioned that but the house was not quite ready for professional photos at that point :)
I would do a pearl or metallic paint treatment to reflect all that light that is next years color fashion prediction.
I could also see some of the removable vinyl wall decals.... https://www.amazon.com/Laimeng-Creative-Dandelion-Flower-Removable/dp/B01KWZ22SA/ref=pd_bxgy_75_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01KWZ22SA&pd_rd_r=AS1W1872FDQ9D21FYKGM&pd_rd_w=7gxCT&pd_rd_wg=5i8TH&psc=1&refRID=AS1W1872FDQ9D21FYKGM

Benjamin Moore has a couple pearl paints, Regal and Studio Finishes
I would paint the wall in a gorgeous shade of paint with a pearlized finish -and leave the wall bare to show it (and the beautiful staircase) off.. This is one time when "less is more".
Stencil.
